My parents never understood how to navigate the California health care system when they moved from the Philippines. Being proficient in English allowed me to understand for them, and now I have the privilege to work in health care and translate the modern practice and process of receiving care for them now. It's these personal experiences that make me want to make it easier for other immigrant communities navigate it better and with professional guidance.
