Hanifa Kanyiginya

My name is kanyiginya hanifa from uganda. I am a mother of three girls and enthusiast about life. I grew up in a small community in queen Elizabeth national park which primarily survives from fishing and salt mining which has deteriorated as years go by because of new government regulations. Since i was young I've always wanted to write, i thought i can write better songs when as a young girl was critical about most songs in my era, they were mostly love songs, i was curious about listening to something different, i have always been curious. As i grew, got involved in life and all the cultural, religious and social engangements, i finally find my voice. I want to write about the important of financial independence for both married and single women, to emphasise the need for education, acquiring of skills, the importance of reading as I'm familiar with communities that still force young girls into marriages. I want to empower men and women from my community ways to eradicate poverty and reduce domestic violence through visual representations especially film productions, documentaries and a community that can help them recognise their abilities . I want to give them hope, because there is.
