What’s the name of your project?
Prince Tech Multipurpose Solar-powered Moveable Booth (with Voice Command or Mobile Phone Control System)
What problem are you solving with your project?
The “Prince Tech Multipurpose Solar-powered Moveable Booth (with Voice Command or Mobile Phone Control System)” is addressing energy challenges in Nigeria. The invention won the prestigious “Inventors award of the year (2022)” in Nigeria; at the National Innovation Workshop (Exhibition) 2022, organized by the Senate Committee on Science and Technology.

The project is advancing; affordable, sustainable, innovative, cleaner, and environmentally friendly energy solutions in Nigeria. It also presents a novel technology that enables physically challenged persons, elderly persons, and the general public to easily regulate the speed of the ceiling/standing Fan, switch ON/OFF television, switch ON/OFF electric bulbs, and control other electronic/electrical appliances used in the booth wirelessly using voice command or an application (App) running on a mobile phone.

This technology explores other vital applications of the mobile phone other than its primary purpose of making and receiving calls, sending text messages, and browsing the internet.
How does your project adequately solve this problem?
The “Prince Tech Multipurpose Solar-powered Moveable Booth (with Voice or Mobile Phone Control System) is an approach from “Prince Technology and Community Development Foundation (a registered non-governmental organization in Nigeria)” to provide an off-grid and stand-alone solar energy solution to Nigerians. It is a mini-grid solar energy station that converts solar energy to electrical energy to serve artisans and small business owners in Nigeria; to avoid using inefficient, unreliable, and unsustainable energy sources of energy such as fossil fuel generating sets, kerosene lanterns, candle sticks, wood, etc.

All the electrical and electronic appliances (electric Fan, Television, Refrigerator, et cetera) used in the booth, including electric Bulbs, are controlled wirelessly either by; issuing the corresponding voice command or clicking the corresponding icon on an Application (App) running on a Mobile Phone. The invention consists of a portable house built with Aluminum profiles and aluminum composite panel sheets that can be easily moved from one place to another. It consists of a solar rooftop that converts the energy from the Sun into electrical energy. The charge controller controls the rate of charging and discharging of the batteries.

The electrical energy produced by the solar panels charges the deep-cycle batteries integrated with the system. The 2 Kilowatts to 5 Kilowatts system inverter fabricated with locally available electronic components converts the Direct Current (DC) in the “battery bank” to 220V/240V Alternating Current (AC) suitable for providing the energy requirements of our customers (artisans and small business owners) in Nigeria. My invention enables small business owners in Nigeria to run on 100% solar energy solutions, while saving an average of US$10 daily, spent on fossil fuel generators to power their businesses.
What groups of people will benefit from your project?
Generally, my intervention will serve artisans and small business owners in Nigeria who require affordable, cleaner, and environmentally friendly energy supply to power their businesses and maximizes profit; while protecting our immediate environment. The project will serve but not be limited to the following areas of businesses:

1. Battery Charging Station (Phone, Laptop, Car, etc).
2. Hospitals in Rural Communities (for the preservation of drugs).
3. Point of Sale (POS) and other related Services.
4. Barbing and Hair Dressing Salon.
5. Computer Training and Business Centre (online payment/registration).
6. Computer, Laptop, and Mobile Phone Repairs.
7. Fruit Juicer Centre.
8. Wait and Take (2 Minutes) Passport.
9. Mini Shop (Cold Drinks, Fast Food, etc).
10. Entertainment Business (Football viewing center), among other related businesses that need less energy supply to operate.

The solar-powered moveable kiosk comes in different sizes; ranging from 3 feet by 4 feet room space to room size aluminum house of 10 feet by 10 feet, depending on the choice of the customer and the nature of the business it will be deployed to.
How do you intend to generate revenue in order to become sustainable?
In Nigeria, over 10 persons die every week as a result of anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere from the over 60 million generators at the ratio of one per household of 2.5 people with annual spending of over N2.5 trillion. This has resulted in economic, social, and environmental problems in my country.

I will generate revenue by selling the “Multipurpose Solar-powered Moveable Booth” to millions of Nigerians who are desperately in search of affordable and sustainable energy solutions to power their businesses. My energy solution(s) will enable artisans and small business owners in Nigeria to run on 100% solar energy solutions while saving an average of US$10 daily, spent on fossil fuel to power their businesses.
What makes your project unique or better than other projects solving this problem?
One of the things that made the project unique is the integration of Voice Command or Mobile Phone Control System with the Multipurpose Solar-powered Moveable Booth.

As the world is becoming more technologically advanced; home and industrial automation are becoming more popular. Manual switching of electrical and electronic devices is a serious challenge facing the world today. Sometimes, we are victims of electric shocks from these devices when we try to switch them ON/OFF due to leakage currents from the electric switches. The physically challenged persons and the elderly ones are affected the most, making them rely on those taking care of them to do basic home appliances control (ON/OFF electric bulbs, refrigerator, television, et cetera).

The Prince Tech Multipurpose Solar-powered Moveable Booth (with Voice Command or Mobile Phone Control System) presents a smart gadget that is capable of turning ON/OFF all the electrical and electronic appliances used in the booth remotely; using voice command or an Application (App) running on a mobile phone. With this technology, physically challenged persons, elderly persons, and general users can easily regulate the ceiling/standing Fan and other appliances used in the booth wirelessly. The operation range of the invention is 10 meters; for both voice and mobile application control. This invention explores other vital applications of the mobile phone other than its primary purpose of making and receiving calls, sending text messages, and browsing the internet.
What strategies will you adopt to scale the impact of your project in the future?
My project is built on three pillars:

1. Sustainability: the project will be sustained through effective stakeholder collaboration and a business model.
2. Scalability: the project will be scalable to meet the specific energy needs of small business owners in Nigeria while generating good returns for investors.
3. Cost-effective: the project will be cost-effective to suit Nigeria’s income level while deploying the best repayment model (Pay-As-you-Go model).
What impact does your project have on your community, region, country, or the world?
With my Rural Energy Distribution Project and Multipurpose Solar-powered Moveable Booth, over 500 Kilowatts of solar energy solutions have been installed at homes and businesses in Nigeria. I am using a micro-scaled renewable energy system to effectively meet the energy needs of remote settlements and businesses at the most economical cost to suit their income levels. My solar energy solutions provide opportunities for rural communities to avoid using inefficient and unreliable sources of energy such as fossil fuel generators, kerosene lanterns, candle sticks, and wood; and more directly to renewable energy to enhance economic growth, improve the quality of lives and standard of living of rural dwellers; to fuel African innovative Eco-system.

My solar energy solutions are addressing; the economic, social, and environmental needs of Nigerians.

1. Economic: It enables small business owners in Nigeria to run on 100% solar energy solutions while saving an average of US$10 daily, spent on fossil fuel generators to power their businesses.
2. Social: It enables Nigerians to power their homes and businesses; instead of using other unsustainable energy sources like; fossil fuel generating sets, candle sticks, kerosene lanterns, et cetera.
3. Environmental: Fossil fuel is the main source of anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions responsible for global warming, acid rain, climate change, and ozone layer depletion.
My solar energy solutions have reduced over 10,000 lbs of carbon emission in Nigeria, therefore protecting our immediate environment.
