I am an Assistant Professor of Soil Science in the Department of Land Resources Management and Environmental Protection at Mekelle University (MU), Ethiopia. My expertise spans soil fertility, soil-vegetation interactions, and soil carbon management. I served as the Head of the Research and Community Services Office in the College of Dryland Agriculture and Natural Resources at MU. I also led MU’s Women’s Affairs Office and contributed as member to the Tigray Regional Government’s Soil Fertility Management Think Tank. Throughout my career, I have taught and mentored numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students, engaged in community service initiatives, and participated in multidisciplinary, internationally linked research projects—all focused on dryland natural resource rehabilitation and sustainable management. I am deeply passionate about addressing soil fertility and climate change challenges, as I believe these are critical to solving food security and global environmental issues.
