Profile

Lauren Koch

I’m a South African educator, entrepreneur, and storyteller with experience in Foundation Phase education. I’m passionate about early childhood development and literacy, and I’m currently developing a multilingual literacy app that offers culturally relevant, curriculum-aligned content for young learners across South Africa.

My platform provides phonics, life skills, and interactive storybooks in English, Afrikaans, and isiXhosa. It’s designed for learners aged 5 to 9 and aligned with the South African CAPS curriculum. My goal is to promote language development, inclusion, and a love of reading by offering accessible, identity-affirming content—especially in communities where resources are limited.

The idea for the app came from my own classroom experience. I saw first-hand how few localized and multilingual tools were available for young children, and I wanted to change that.
I’m currently seeking support to grow and refine my platform—through mentorship, funding, and meaningful collaboration.
I believe in building tools that reflect the voices and experiences of the children who use them. My work is grounded in love, legacy, and learning—and I’m excited about the next steps on this journey.
