Ezekiel Mkandawire, co-founder of the Society for Environmental Sustainability and Sanitary Watch (SESSAW) in Blantyre. I also have a registered business idea called HEKAM AFRICA, whose vision is to build sustainable communities, empower communities socially and economically, and reduce women's and girls' unemployment challenges while implementing environmentally friendly initiatives without compromising future generations' needs.
I worked with Leigh Day as a paralegal, where I gained experience working with vulnerable women, girls, and households working in tobacco and tea estates, as well as experience working with households including women and girls victims of Kanseche Chikwawa floods. The individual served as chairperson for SESSAW CBO until 2022, assisting in tree planting at Kapeni demonstration school and Blantyre teachers training college, waste disposal and management, and voluntarily working at Kapeni COVID-19 Camp to assist cyclone Freddy victims.
With a bachelor's degree in social sciences development studies, I have experience promoting sustainable initiatives and empowering women. With strong leadership, advocacy, and a diverse background, I believe I can significantly contribute to the SAVVY fellowship by utilizing my skills and experience.
