I currently serve in a regional capacity as the Coordinator of Virtual - Education at SEAMOLEC, the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization, which is an organization focused on promoting cooperation in education, science, and culture within Southeast Asia. Building on this, I am the Founder of the Virtual Education Academy (VEA). VEA's mission is to train educators on using technology in teaching and learning. We offer various programs, including certified training registered with the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics, training on the Merdeka Mengajar Platform, opportunities for independent campus internships (Magang Mandiri Kampus Merdeka), and Microsoft training which includes providing premium education accounts. We've conducted this Microsoft training for participants from Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia and VEA is also assisting Timor Leste by helping them create virtual teachers with digital capabilities and is opening a branch there. Beyond VEA, I also developed the Educational Serial Book Number (ESBN) system. This is a digital system designed to modernize the identification and management of educational books. Similar to ISBN, ESBN provides a unique serial number for educational books used in schools and universities. It even includes a real-time digital tracking system to check book usage and verify authenticity. The ESBN system is already used in Indonesia and has even been adopted in some European countries. The government of Kayong Utara in Indonesia officially uses ESBN. I am also actively involved in promoting literacy as the President of the Indonesian Literacy Association, which is a branch of the International Literacy Association based in the USA. My engagement extends internationally through programs like the teacher exchange to Italy under the Erasmus Mover program in 2013 and the lecturer exchange to Poland in 2015. During my time in Poland, I co-founded the Perhimpunan Pelajar Indonesia (PPI) in Poland. Currently, I serve as the Vice President of Oceans Network, a European organization. I have a passion for meeting new people and gathering them into a community. These activities, from developing ESBN and leading VEA to my international roles, contribute to the ASEAN Community. • My role at SEAMOLEC inherently facilitates collaboration within ASEAN. • The VEA Microsoft training with participants from Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia is a direct example of people-to-people engagement among ASEAN Member States • My international exchanges and role at Oceans Network bridge connections between ASEAN (through my Indonesian identity and work) and the world, fostering collaboration between ASEAN and the world. • My work improving digital literacy and the ESBN system contribute to human capital development and could potentially support economic integration through improved educational resource management and digital skills relevant to the modern economy. My efforts have been recognized with various awards, including scholarships like LPDP and Erasmus, the Young and Inspirational Teacher 2019, the IESA International Award teacher for contributing to Education 2020, and TOP awards from Mata Garuda LPDP for contributing to social and educational initiatives. Looking ahead, I intend to continue advocating for wider adoption of the ESBN system within ASEAN, expanding VEA's reach and tailored training programs across the region, and strengthening regional collaboration through my role at SEAMOLEC. The emme coalition, which she co-founded and now leads as a fully independent 501(c)(3), embodies Paula’s vision for radical, trauma-informed transformation. emme stands for empowerment, mindfulness, motivation, and education. It is far more than a program. It is a movement to save babies, support mothers, and disrupt the racial disparities plaguing maternal health outcomes in America. Under her leadership, emme offers life coaching, wraparound supports, reproductive health guidance, and holistic behavioral care, producing transformative outcomes including full-term pregnancies, increased high school graduation rates, and empowered future doulas and community health workers, many of whom began as emme participants.
