Sarani Ranaweera is an enterprising entrepreneur, dedicated volunteer, and passionate diver, channeling her unyielding enthusiasm into environmental and community development initiatives. Graduating from the University of Colombo with a B.A (Sp) in Mass Media, Sarani is currently pursuing advanced studies in LLB at the University of London (International Programmes).Sarani adeptly balances her roles as a Program Coordinator and Program Manager for Earth Lanka Youth Network, affiliations made possible through the British Council. In addition, she holds the esteemed position of Hub Leader/Focal Point for Sustainable Ocean Alliance Sri Lanka. Following the MV X – Press Pearl ship disaster in Sri Lankan waters, her dedication was evident through both her volunteer work and her collaboration with the Marine Environment Protection Authority. As a holder of a PADI Advanced Diving License and an aspiring PADI Rescue Diver, Sarani has spearheaded numerous initiatives, encompassing reef and beach cleanups, awareness workshops, mangrove plantings, and in-situ coral conservation in Batticaloa district. Her recognition as an associate and fellowship holder of Women Divers Hall of Fame for the years 2023 and 2023 underscores her remarkable contributions. Sarani is a fervent advocate for ocean conservation and environmental sustainability, passionately spreading essential knowledge through presentations, workshops, social media, and various platforms. Her exceptional involvement in volunteer activities and policy development showcases her unwavering commitment to preserving our planet.
