Dear Entrepreneur,

No doubt about it, the best speakers, writers, leaders, teachers, and coaches are good storytellers. In a world of information overload, noise and hype, stories cut through the clutter, get the message across, and influence people. People love a good story.

Stories are the reason we stay awake late to finish a book, watch a movie, or binge-watch on Netflix. Stories engage us like nothing else, so why don’t we use more stories when selling our business? If done right, storytelling can make your brand communications more engaging, more impactful, and more motivating.

At the opening ceremony of the World Youth Forum 2019, I saw the power of storytelling in action! 13-year-old Egyptian, Zein Youssef, shared an inspiring story of how he fought and defeated cancer four times! He was first diagnosed with high-risk stage four neuroblastoma when he was just six-years-old.

Similarly, 36-year-old Jessica Cox, the world’s first armless pilot, shared a story on how she overcame physical and mental limitations and trained to fly a plane with her feet. Michel Chikwanine, a young man from Congo, told a story of when he was abducted as a child to become a soldier in the civil war. Now he is an accomplished motivational speaker and author, who has spoken to over 800,000 people.

With love,
Chidi
