When a team member does something exceptional, please reward him or her — maybe with a bonus, or a small trophy. It could even be a simple vocal recognition or a certificate of recognition. Do this in front of other team members, because it will make the intended recipient feel good and simultaneously show the rest of the team that hard work is noticed and rewarded. Please, be consistent in your rewards so you won’t be seen as playing favorites.
